I was looking for a light, semi-leather, washable all-purpose boot with special requirement of high performance characteristics for fast-paced urban use. The Haix climate System appears to work.....these are boots that tend to feel less hot during periods of high-activity than others of their type. I had previously owned and still use; Lowa, Hanwag, Meindl and Zamberlan boots of similar specification. The Haix Scout (black); I consider to be the ideal balance between robust upper construction, lightweight and sole configuration.....the latter comprising large, bevelled functional contact units which provide the friction and 'bite' one needs when moving at speed accross man-made surfaces. I like the feel and flexibility of the upper/insole/sole interaction and the Haix 2-zone and Smart lacing systems are uniquely strong and useful.....certainly will avoid knots and the danger of untying during use. Now, I think there is very little to fault these boots and as soon as I contact Haix in person, I will be ordering another several pairs for my colleagues. Of all the Haix boots I have been lucky enought to try over the years, the Scout model is the most impressive in terms of performance and technical ability.......Oh, and they have very attractive aesthetic qualities!
